At Chatbooks, we offer two types of credits. The first type is our general credit, which is typically issued for returns, refunds, or as part of gift cards. Alongside this, we also provide Subscription Book credits. These credits are tailored to individual books within your Subscription. You can learn how to see how much general credit is on your account HERE. You can see how to find your Subscription credits HERE.
Subscription Book Credits
Each month, you're billed for a subscription credit on the last day of the month. This credit lets you print one book.
If you choose to print a book early (before the end of the month) and don’t have a credit available, you’ll be charged for that book right away. Then, at the end of the month, you’ll be billed as usual for your next credit—which can be used for any future book.
When do my subscription credits expire?
Credits expire 13 months after they’re issued to encourage timely use and ensure consistent service.
Can I extend the credit expiration date?
Yes! Within 29 days of expiration, you’ll see an in-app option to extend the credit by 30 days. See here on how to extend a credit.
Does this apply to canceled subscriptions as well?
No it does not.
What if I cancel my subscription?
You'll have 90 days after canceling to use any remaining credits.
How can I use my remaining credits?
To use your remaining credits, simply watch this video HERE to see how to send your books to print.
What happens if I don't use my credits in time?
They’ll expire and can’t be used or refunded after that date.
Can I get a refund for expired credits?
We're unable to provide refunds for expired credits as per our subscription terms.
How do I check my credit balance?
You can easily check which books have associated credits by watching this video HERE.
Can I transfer my credits?
No. Credits are non-transferable and can only be used within your own account.
If I cancel my Subscription, can I still use my credit?
You will have 90 days to use book credits and print your Chatbooks before the credits will expire. We encourage you to use all of your credit before canceling your Subscription.
If I reactivate my Subscription, what happens to my expiring and/or expired credits?
When you reactivate your Subscription, we will reactive expiring/expired book credits from the original book credit purchase date. This applies to credits whether they have already expired after the 90-day window or not.
Why wasn't I notified before my credits expired?
We send reminders via email and in the app—but they can get caught in spam. Be sure to add us to your contacts and turn on app notifications to stay updated. Learn how to turn on notifications HERE.
Why was I double charged this month?
If you were charged twice in one month, it's likely because you sent a Monthbook to print before your monthly credit was available.
Here’s how it works:
If you print a book without an available credit, you’ll be charged for an Extra Monthbook.
Then, on the last day of the month, your regular monthly subscription charge processes, giving you a new credit for the next Monthbook.
So while it may feel like a double charge, one was for an Extra book, and the other was your usual subscription credit.
